Scanned PDF to Text (OCR)
Your scanned PDF is just an image — text can’t be selected or copied? Upload it and OCR turns it into copyable text, producing both a .txt file and a searchable PDF (an invisible text layer over the original pages, ready for full-text search). Choose from 9 recognition languages. Recognition runs locally in your browser; your file is never uploaded.

How it works (3 steps)
Upload the scan
Scanned PDFs and PNG/JPG images are supported; pick the recognition language that matches your document.
Local OCR
Pages are recognized one by one with progress shown; clear printed scans give high accuracy. The OCR model runs inside your browser.
Download the text
You get both a plain-text .txt and a searchable PDF that keeps the original layout and supports full-text search.

FAQ
How accurate is the extracted text?
Printed text scanned at 300dpi or better recognizes well; skewed, blurry, or handwritten content is noticeably less accurate — double-check key numbers and names after OCR.
Try it ↑What is a searchable PDF?
It looks identical to the original scan, but each page carries an invisible text layer — you can select and copy text, hit Ctrl+F to search, and document systems can index it.
Try it ↑Which languages are supported?
Simplified and Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese — 9 in total; non-English options recognize mixed text with English automatically.
Try it ↑Is my file uploaded?
No — OCR runs entirely in your browser. The recognition model is downloaded from a CDN on first use (see the disclosure in the footer).
Try it ↑Does a digital signature survive processing?
No. Any change to a signed PDF (merging, compressing, watermarking…) invalidates the existing digital signature — that is the tamper-proof design of PDF signatures, not a limit of this site. Process first, then sign.
Try it ↑Can I trust the processing engine?
Yes — and you can verify it: the tool runs on open-source in-browser engines (pdf-lib, pdf.js, Tesseract OCR…) on your own device. Open DevTools → Network while processing and you will see no file upload requests.
