Remove Watermark from PDF

Scans every page and removes two kinds of standard watermarks: PDF watermark annotations and content tagged as an Artifact watermark per the PDF spec (most watermarks added by well-behaved tools fall into these). Honest note: watermarks flattened into the content stream or burned into scanned images are indistinguishable from real content — we don't do lossy paint-over removal. Nothing found = no quota used.

How it works (3 steps)

1

Upload the watermarked PDF

Watermarks added by standards-compliant tools (including our own Add Watermark) are properly tagged and can be removed cleanly.

2

Automatic scan & removal

Every page is scanned for watermark annotations and Artifact watermark marks; all matches are removed and counted.

3

Download the clean file

The result card shows how many watermark marks were removed; if none were found the original file is returned and your quota is handed back.

FAQ

Which watermarks can and cannot be removed?

Removable: watermark annotations (the PDF spec's Watermark annotation type) and content marked as an Artifact watermark. Not removable: watermarks flattened into the page content stream or burned into scanned images — they are indistinguishable from real content at the data level, and paint-over approaches damage the file, so we don't offer them.

Is the removal lossy?

No. Only explicitly tagged watermark objects are deleted — not a single byte of the real content is touched. When nothing removable is found, the file is returned unchanged and the quota unit refunded.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Scanning and removal run entirely in your browser.

Does a digital signature survive processing?

No. Any change to a signed PDF (merging, compressing, watermarking…) invalidates the existing digital signature — that is the tamper-proof design of PDF signatures, not a limit of this site. Process first, then sign.

Can I trust the processing engine?

Yes — and you can verify it: the tool runs on open-source in-browser engines (pdf-lib, pdf.js, Tesseract OCR…) on your own device. Open DevTools → Network while processing and you will see no file upload requests.
