Paplume vs iLovePDF
iLovePDF is one of the most polished PDF sites on the web, with an excellent result page and a complete account system. The core difference is architectural: iLovePDF processes your files on its servers (we observed uploads to api112.ilovepdf.com during a real compression run), while Paplume local tools process files entirely in your browser and never upload them. Below is what we actually verified — nothing more.

The honest part
To be fair: iLovePDF has a more complete workspace (thumbnail previews, account/workflow features, mobile apps) and its Premium adds OCR across more languages and desktop apps. If you need those, it is a good product. Our claim is narrower: for everyday merge/split/compress/convert tasks, Paplume does them free, without uploading your file anywhere.

FAQ
How can I check that Paplume really does not upload my file?
Open your browser DevTools → Network tab, then process a PDF with any local tool. You will not see a single file-upload request — processing happens in your browser via WebAssembly.
Is iLovePDF unsafe?
We make no such claim. iLovePDF states files are deleted after processing. The difference is that with server-side processing you must trust that policy; with browser-local processing there is nothing to trust — the file never leaves your device.
